Delfines Cupica REDD+ wins first place in the Actions Framed in Nature-Based Solutions category for the Bibo El Espectador Award
This project was recognized as the winner of the BIBO Award 2021 in the category “Actions framed in nature-based solutions”, thanks to the social and environmental work carried out between the Community Councils of the North Pacific Coast of Chocó – Los Delfines and Cupica, in association with BIOFIX .
Delfines Cupica takes place in Bahía Solano and Juradó, Chocó, Colombia, and seeks to protect 103 thousand hectares of tropical rainforest, as well as the species of flora and fauna that inhabit the territory. Its development occurs thanks to the commercialization of carbon credits, leveraged on the Colombian carbon market, and emerged as a solution to the social and environmental needs of the north Pacific coast, a region that presents levels of multidimensional poverty and unsatisfied basic needs.
