ARLEQUÍN REDD+

Its name is a tribute to the harlequin frog, an exotic species in danger of extinction that is protected by the activities of this conservation project that includes 74,746 hectares of very humid tropical forest in the Chocó biogeographic zone.
The proponents of the ARLEQUÍN REDD+ project are the ACISANP, COCOILLO and COCOMACER Community Councils, which in association with BIOFIX, have worked to minimize the impact that their communities generate due to deforestation or forest degradation.
This project has initiatives around the reforestation of degraded ecosystems, strengthening the agro-productive sector with local products such as annatto, cassava, Chinese potatoes, cocoa, medicinal plants, bananas, sacha inchi and the modernization of rice transformation process. the promotion of environmental education and tourism, the implementation of technologies suitable for cooking and the improvement of infrastructure and equipment for mobility, health, housing and leisure.
