KALIAWIRI REDD+
Seven indigenous reserves of the Sikuani and Piapoco peoples make up this project located in Cumaribo, Vichada and Inírida, Guainía. Its name was given by the communities in reference to the tree of life, from which all fruit or food came.
KALIAWIRI REDD+ seeks to protect 358,065 hectares of forest and benefit more than 1,000 people belonging to the reserves.
Among its lines of action is the establishment of educational processes in forest governance, entrepreneurship, gender equality, recovery of ancestral cultural traditions and territorial limits; as well as reforestation, community monitoring and implementation of renewable energy and improvement of communications infrastructure, among others.
