We are specialists in structuring and developing conservation projects under the REDD+ mechanism (Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation). We currently work with more than 25 ethnic communities, with which we coordinate 9 conservation projects in departments such as Vichada, Guainía, Guaviare, Chocó, Cauca and Valle del Cauca, in Colombia. Our partnership is already beginning to expand in Brazil, with the beginning of a project in the states of Tocantins and Mato Grosso.
WE DEVELOP CONSERVATION PROJECTS
What is a REDD+ project?
It is a mechanism that was born within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), whose general objective is to contribute to the Reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation. This mechanism seeks to contribute to:
- Mitigate the effects of climate change.
- Maintain and improve Environmental Services associated with forests.
- Promote sustainable forest management.
- Conserve and promote the sustainable use of biodiversity.
- Improve the quality of life of communities.
- Promote gender equity.
How we do?
- Viability: We carry out a viability analysis of the territory.
- Approximation: We provide relevant information related to REDD+ Projects benefits and phases, profit distribution mechanisms and distribution of functions directly with the territory owners.
- Signing of agreements: establishes the commitments to be followed and is highlighted in the necessary instances.
- Formulation: The steps and methods are defined in the Project Design Document (PDD).
- Validation: an audit and approval process of the project methodology described in the PDD is carried out.
- Verification: the project methodology described in the PDD is verified and approved.
- Certification: the project is certified and registered in compliance with the requirements of different standards (VCS, CCB, among others).
- Record: o projeto é certificado e registrado sob o cumprimento dos requisitos dos diferentes padrões (VCS, CCB, etc.).
- Commercialization: whether emission reduction certificates are sold within the scope of the carbon tax, or customers who wish to carry out voluntary compensation.
- Implementation: all actions established by communities are put into practice in the form of projects that benefit families and forest conservation.
